If you’re travelling along the New England Highway, it’s well worth the visit to Armidale’s patchwork store, located in the heart of the town and opposite the large plaza carpark. Since 2002, the shop has become a welcoming haven with unique kits and patterns designed by owner and fabric enthusiast, Karyn Herbert.
Creative has been a normal part of growing up for Karyn. Let loose on the old Singer machine from the time her foot could reach the pedal, she made clothes and costumes from old bed sheets when she wasn’t doing one of the many other crafts that took her fancy or riding her horses. Owning a shop wasn’t the first thought on her mind when the closing down signs went up in the local store but never one to step back from a challenge, the full time mum of 3 kids under 6 became a full time shop owner instead and it’s a move she’s never regretted.
A lovely selection of fabrics line the walls, colours to inspire and designs to delight. Drawing and planning the next project is never far from her mind. The most popular and newest kits and patterns are available in the store and online for those who prefer to shop when it suits.
If you’re in the area, drop in and say hello.
